Fitness in Nature

Updated: May 20

Why not just head to the comforts of the nearest gym?

Let me first answer this from my personal perspective.  Through my life I have gone through periods of stress.  Dealing with grief, family illnesses, general life stresses.  I genuinely believe that getting myself outside into nature helped me find my way through.  At times doing exercise felt like the last thing I wanted to do, even when I needed it most.  But, getting outside, my brain felt less chaotic and the relative calm meant I could move more.

Add to my personal experience the research data and it is clear that physical activity in nature is a great healer.  This article from Exeter University shows how it actually helps prevent several diseases, including depression and type 2 diabetes.

Beachfit brings together a wonderful group of people who are benefiting from these sessions in a multitude of ways.  It isn’t always easy, the motivation may not be there, you may be incredibly time poor, it may be rainy or just surrounded by Cornish mizzle (which I do happen to quite enjoy but not the point)…. IF and when you can find a way, create the habit and your body and mind will reap the rewards.

Talk to me now if you are interested in finding out for yourself.  All levels of fitness are welcome.
